I live in a beautiful part of Australia in the Adelaide Hills, our back yard has a stunning view of a national park. Our home is on among a very special community of koalas, special because Koalas are a threatened species and are sparsely populated throughout Australia, but not here!
Koalas are truly an adorable, mischievous, magic, loving and sometimes a scary animal, but they never mean any harm. I started this channel so I could share the amazing natural encounters with wild koalas. 'm not a koala expert or carer, just an everyday person living in a not so everyday kind of place! I try to just observe koala and not interfere. Sometimes they need help, sometimes they just want a cuddle.

Getting Help For Sick Koala on Dangerous Road
I'm walking this koala across the road and also filming, you can't see this, but I'm also cautiously and calmly waving down cars to alert the drivers. I'm not a koala carer or rescuer I just did what I could to get this darling off the road so I could call Koala Rescue. I could feel that this sweetheart is not well, he looked tired and had reddish eyes and it couldn't get to the safety up a tree. I call Koala Rescue and instantly get to speak to a coordinator! .... please see part two when I upload the next part

Hanging Out With Koalas

The previous day I was stung by a hopper ant twice, they are nasty stings and can be deadly. Then we were all harassed and chased by the non native wasp colony that moved in. I was very much over hanging out in the backyard until I spotted these koalas in the trees above me :)

A friend of mine sent me this footage of their resident koala in Basket Range. You see him in two different trees, it was a hot day so during the hot part of the day Barry cools down in a shady thick tree and then back to the gum tree for feeding. My mum's first trip abroad was after she retired. She went to visit her brother in Australia. A favourite photo she had enlarged was her holding a koala. So sweet! Mum's in a better place now, but dad's still got the photo on the wall. Maybe I'll get there myself one day! (Dreaming 😂)
